अहमदाबाद गुजरात प्रदेश का सबसे बड़ा शहर है। भारतवर्ष में यह नगर का सातवें स्थान पर है। इक्क्यावन लाख की जनसंख्या वाला ये शहर, साबरमती नदी के किनारे बसा हुआ है। पहले गुजरात की राजधानी यही शहर ही था, उसके बाद ये स्थान गान्धीनगर को दे दिया गया। अहमदाबाद को कर्णावती के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इस शहार की बुनियाद सन १४११ में डाली गयी थी। शहर का नाम सुलतान अहमद शाह पर पडा था।
