Ellen Simonton is very excited by its special guest on Friday 16th January. The Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon will be doing a meet and greet with our residents and staff at Ellen Simonton. Just one of the fantastic activities House Manager Niamh has arranged for 2015 for her residents.
This is my last post before Christmas- I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our followers, likers and sharers a very Merry Christmas! Brigid x
See below what Christmas in Abbeyfield Belfast means to Mr Honneyman (Voysey House) I remember my first Christmas in Abbeyfield! The festive season lasted all December. We has a sing song with my favourite carols Joy to the world with me playing my piano. And of course the Christmas Party with festive fayre and everyone talking and getting to know each other. A time of good cheer and life enhanced. That was 11years ago i'm still here at 96!! David Honneyman
Abbeyfield Belfast pride itself on being a home from home for older people, but don't just take my word for it.... here is what Abbeyfield Belfast means to Lady Audrey Crossland (Ellen Simonton) "I think it's very pleasant because all six of us are here because we have lost somebody. I suppose we have all found new friends at Ellen Simonton. I can only say for myself I was worried about having to sell my house. I could not live in a rather large 4 bedroomed house myself. My two daughters were an enormous help when my husband died, but they have their own lives, and their own jobs to go to everyday. Living here has made a total difference for me. I feel supported and secure here. The staff are very helpful. They have to deal with some very awkward people. I think we get treated very well, nice meals. We go to other places now and again so that we can meet other people. Our house, Ellen Simonton, has the added benefit of a lovely garden. So in the summer we can sit in the shade and read our books. If the weather allows us!" Lady Audrey Crossland- Ellen Simonton, December 2014
