In 2006, Acorn School began as a dream to create a learning environment that would reflect the view of the child as competent, capable and rich in potential. In the last eight years, the children that we have had the privilege to teach have reaffirmed our beliefs that when we “Stand aside for a while and leave room for learning, observe carefully what children do, and then, if you have understood well, perhaps teaching will be different from before” (Loris Malaguzzi). Experiencing teaching and learning in this way has been transformational but it has not been without difficulties. Acorn School will now branch out to continue to influence the educational community through a new blog site, social media, and offer professional learning opportunities, but we will not be able to operate at our current site. I will be maintaining our social media accounts and be seeking other opportunities to advocate for Reggio inspired teaching and learning. We will close at the end of June 2015 and please be on the look out for the grand closing celebration. I will also announce a material and furniture sale. We want to thank all of our followers, supporters and readers. We especially want to thank our teachers, families and children. We hope you continue to follow the journey of possibilities. Nothing without joy~ Loris Malaguzzi
