The Mishras have been quite busy this summer. They just finished a trip to Budapest, Vienna, and Prague!
Hello Parents. NOW is the time to order your School Supplies, if you didn't do it at Mayfest!! The deadline is June 30th. Here's the info, from Andrea Rominger, who is heading up this APA fundraiser, for us again this year: "Enjoy your summer... Every minute of it! Why waste pool time hunting for book covers, comp books and locker shelves? APA is giving you your summer back! Let us do your BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING for you! This year, student advisors have picked out the BEST BRANDS to match each teacher’s list. They’ll be bundled and delivered to your child’s desk by Registration Day. They charge us the wholesale price, we charge you the retail price - as low or lower than big box stores! What happens to the difference? We use it to fill teachers’ wish lists and support other APA projects. What's better? If you have any issues with any of your supplies (even halfway through the year) this company will send you a replacement! Order securely online now thru June 30th 1. Go to www.educationalproducts.com/shoppacks 2. Enter the school ID, ADV005 3. Follow the directions to complete your order. 4. Print your online confirmation as your receipt. Orders will be charged sales tax at checkout."
This Panther sighting includes a monkey! The Romingers are in Costa Rica visiting family. It appears that the monkey was quite intrigued by the Advent Paintbrush. We may have a new mascot...
Closer to home, we have some Panthers that will be greatly missed at Advent. But you know what they say: Once a Panther, always a Panther! Here is the Smith family and another recent Advent grad, Dylan Kyle, at Mrs. Green's restaurant in Perdido Key.
Not too far away from our last Panther sighting in Germany, Cooper Wallace and family are enjoying their first part of summer in London. Here is a picture of Cooper at the Ministry of Magic at the Warner Brothers Harry Potter set in London.
Another Panther spotting! Paine and Holman Gray battling it out in the ruins of Burg (castle) Hohenbaden in Baden-Baden, Germany. #adventsummer2016
Check out the latest Advent Panther spotting! Paine and Holman Gray are hanging out with their Grandparents in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Thanks for sending in your pictures, Grays. Remember, if you are traveling this summer or hanging around Birmingham for a staycation, send in your pics to email@example.com or tag #AdventSummer2016
Where in the world is Advent? Zuni, a rising third grader, is kicking off summer with a cruise! We would love for every family to take a part of us with you on your travels this summer. We sent home with every student a laminated paintbrush for the students to get a picture with in different locations. Wherever you may go, whether the beach or mountain or city, please take pictures and send them to us. We would love to post to social media, such as Facebook, Instagram (advent.episcopal.school) or Twitter (Advent panthers). We also have a Vimeo account. If you would like to take a short 15 to 20 second video and send that to us as well, we can post them on our Vimeo account. Make sure and tag us. Tag #Adventsummer2016. You can email pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope everyone has a wonderful summer!
Yesterday, we said goodbye to our Class of 2016. Most of these students have been Advent Panthers since they were in Prekindergarten and will be missed greatly. We are excited to see where their new path leads them! Be sure to come back and visit us, 2016!

Prekindergarteners and Kindergarteners enjoyed some competition this morning!
Our 5th Graders enjoyed a beautiful day at Ruffner Mountain yesterday. They enjoyed a hike through woods that led to a quarry where the students looked for fossils. They continued the hike while learning about Birmingham's early mining history. The students finished the day learning about Furs, Feathers and Scales.
Spring is in the air and our 6th graders are happy it's here!
We had lots of winners this past weekend at the Pizitz Middle School Math Tournament. 7th Grade came in 1st Place and 6th grade got 2nd Place overall! Other placements: Hooper Markert - 3rd; Paul Weir - 4th; Janina Wu - 5th; and Lily Geisen - 9th. Way to go Advent Panthers!
Last week, our Third Graders carried on an annual tradition by having a tea party at the Museum. This is a fun way to learn and practice manners that will benefit our students for years to come! They start off by receiving an etiquette lesson then walk to the Museum for an afternoon tea. Here are some pictures of day. Can you tell which one was taken before the etiquette lesson?
Happy Monday, Facebook Buddies! Please join us on May 11th for our Inaugural Celebrate the Arts Day. Our student body is so talented and we want to show off their abilities. The Advent Class of 2016 kicked off their Spring Break with a lock-in at the school! Here are a few pictures of their time together. As you might suspect, they aren't showing the same amount of energy this morning as they did last night.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! I spotted some Kindergarteners on a scavenger hunt for Lucky the Leprechaun!
It doesn't get much more special than this, folks! The 2nd grade play was incredible, and watching those 8th graders sing along throughout was precious. We are all so fortunate to share in such a wonderful experience!
What a great week to be at 4-H Camp! Our third graders left yesterday and return tomorrow. More pictures to come!
