The Council for Advancement of African-Canadians, operating as Africa Centre, was launched in 2006. It is a multi-purpose centre, an Edmonton based non-profit organization where culturally appropriate programs, services and activities are delivered. It provides an atmosphere which is welcoming, shows respect for diversity and supports members with various interests and abilities.
Africa Centre focuses on programs and services that create economic, educational, social, cultural and professional opportunities for its members. The centre also addresses the diverse needs of African youth including after school programs, stay-in-school initiatives, peer support and mediation, crime prevention, business training, the environment, health, leadership development, recreational and sports activities. Africa Centre encourages voluntarism and increased civic understanding.

Dear Community members and Friends, Africa Centre is hosting its 9th Annual All Africa Soccer games Tournament! When: Friday July 1st and Saturday July 2nd, 2016 Time: 10 am-8pm Venue: M.E. LaZerte High School (6604 144 Ave) The Soccer Tournament is a two-day weekend event, complete with food vendors, music and exciting activities for the entire African community. Several teams, representing a variety of African countries, will compete in the soccer tournament. Its a family event so feel free to bring children (there will be a bouncy castle and other fun activities for kids). Dont miss out on all the fun!! Africa Centre invites you to our annual Africa Day Gala. The event is an opportunity to renew friendships and meet African community leaders as well those of the city’s African organizations. Enjoy great food and live African music. This year, Edmonton-based Garth Prince will also share his vocal repertoire in African and world music. We would be delighted if you were to be our guest at the 2016 Africa Day Gala Dinner. It will be held at Shaw Conference Centre (9797 Jasper Avenue). Dear Community Members and Friends, Raging fires have and are continuing to force thousands of residents from Fort McMurray and nearby communities to flee. It is now being considered the largest disaster in Canadian history. Many are now in temporary shelters here in Edmonton with nothing more than the little they could carry with them. This natural calamity has caused so much damage to their lives, not to mention their properties. So, we appeal to you to kindly to show your support by making a donation, whatever you can afford. Even a donation as small as $5 or $10 makes a difference. On Saturday May 14, noon to 6pm Africa Centre in collaboration with other community associations and organizations will hold a benefit to support those affected by the fires in the Wood Buffalo region. It will showcase the talents of several members of our communities. Please drop-by with family and friends and give generously. All proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Fires Appeal. All individual donations are being matched by the Government of Canada.
