Transport
Six days a week our four minibuses, equipped for use by disabled people, are used to bring members to our Day Centre.
We do our best to cover all of Canterbury and its surrounding villages wherever possible.
Day Centre
We run high quality opportunities, care and support to older people at our Day Centre, Sunday to Friday.
The centre offers a freshly cooked meal, friendship and social interaction that encourage health and independence. This is recognised as being beneficial and can prevent early admission to hospital or residential care. A charge is made for the meal and transport, which most require for the day care service
Computer lessons
Whether you are new to computing, want to solve some problems or learn new skills, our volunteers at Age UK Canterbury enjoy helping you in ore-to-one sessions.
Find out more by calling 01227 462368 or you become a fan of our Age UK Canterbuy computing students Facebook page.
Drop in café
Our Welcome Café adjoins our Day Centre and is available to non-members who wish to call in and enjoy a freshly cooked meal, tea or coffee.
Visitors are requested to book their meal before 12 noon in order to be given a choice of what they would like to eat. Seating is available for up to 14 people.
Grocery shop
Members of our Day Centre can purchase goods from the grocery shop located in the centre. Buying your groceries from the centre can be such a help when getting out to the shops is no longer an easy option.
Collins Unit
Our Collins Unit offers specialist dementia day care with three staff providing enjoyable and stimulating activities throughout the day to ten people. The staff are also supported by two volunteers whenever possible, so that there is plenty of one-to-one attention when necessary.
This service is available to a wide range of dementia sufferers as long as they are able to join in with the group, are not too disruptive, can weight bear and do not need two members of staff to assist them to the toilet. The needs of the whole group need to be considered, as well of those of the individual.
The cost for this service is £40 per day, plus £5.50 for transport. Younger people with dementia onset in their 50s and 60s are also catered for one day a week.
Dementia Carer Support Worker
We run a service that offers information and support to those who care for someone with some form of dementia. We can arrange a visit to the carer’s home.
Social events are also part of this very popular and vital service. Contact us using the details at the bottom of this page to find out more.

Care Navigator service
