Description

Founded in 1983, Alaska Photographic Center is a Non-Profit Organization intended to facilitate cultivation, support, and promotion of fine-art photography and photographers throughout the state of Alaska.

General Info

The Alaska Photographic Center hosts Monthly Meetings & Events: Photo Tuesday - APC hosts free presentations and lectures on topics of interest to the photographic community on the third Tuesday of each month. Mini Workshops - APC holds engaging workshops during the winter on varied subjects such as digital monochrome printing, Photoshop tips & techniques, the art of making books, etc. Rarefied Light - APC sponsors and organizes Rarefied Light, an annual state-wide juried photographic fine-art competition. Open to Alaska residents, each year a nationally recognized artists travels to AK to jury the competition. Following an opening reception in Anchorage, the final exhibit travels around the state of Alaska, enabling access to a wider audience of some of the best fine-art photography being created in Alaska.
