First Responder Chaplains to Anchorage Police & Fire Dept SERVING THOSE WHO SERVE! Alaska Police & Fire Chaplains Ministry was started by Emeritus Board Member Chaplain Bert McQueen in 1980 and in 1986 was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Chaplain Diane Peterson serves as our current Executive Director. APFCM provides services regardless of faith, sex, race, etc. Our chaplains are specifically trained to work during traumatic events. Our primary focus is on our police officers, fire department personnel and emergency services staff, then the communities they serve. Chaplains are frequently called when a death has occurred and often assist by offering emotional support, information, and resources to survivors on the scene. Chaplains' focus on serving in the ways that will be most beneficial to those in need. There are approximately 100 Chaplains throughout Alaska affiliated with APFCM. Our chaplains provide service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Last year this accounted for over 57,500 hours of service. Additionally there are over 300 Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) volunteers. APFCM has trained over 700 individuals in ICISF (International Critical Incident Stress Foundation) courses. We appreciate the guidance and support from our active board of directors. Board member information is listed on our website under the "About Us" tab.
