ALEXITERIC: (uh-LEK-si-TER-ik) adj counteracting the effects of poison; warding off contagion. n an antidote against poison; preventive against contagion. [From Medieval Latin alexiterium (remedy), from Greek alexein (to ward off).] The tea clinic is founded and conducted by Alexander Friend as the central project of his independent business, Alexiteric Health. It is a mobile outfit that provides relaxed and inspired lounge space with gong fu style tea ceremony and customized combinations of complementary therapeutic modalities. Capable of adapting to a diverse array of people, settings and events, the tea clinic is modular and can transform itself to fit the client’s specifications; providing any of the following services: Tea Lounge Integrative Bodywork Qi Gong Instruction Tarot Card Readings Therapeutic Creative Writing In addition to intimate ceremonies, retreats, workshops, parties and other private events, the tea clinic also services public events such as the 2013 Permaculture and Transition Convergence at the Solar Living Institute and the O+ Festival at The Center in San Francisco. On a biweekly basis, the tea clinic provides tea ceremony and bodywork in a communal setting with food and art every other Tuesday at The Salt Lick; a beautiful loft space in Oakland’s Jack London Square. The long-term goal is to create a home base for the tea clinic to cultivate a more permanent qi node where we continuously get smarter and stronger together.
