Ever wonder what the Elks does for our/your community? This year, Allegheny Elks Lodge is using a $10,000 grant to provide cleaning products, toiletries, and household goods to clients of the Northside Community Food Pantry. The products are obtained from Waltmire Pharmacy and then provided free of charge, and are not subject to the usual limits on Pantry goods. Why cleaning products and toiletries? SNAP (food stamps) can't be used for non-food items like toilet paper or tooth paste, and doesn't always provide enough food for a family. Clients supplementing their grocery budget with additional items from the Pantry often have to make the choice between food or household goods. Allegheny Elks' Yellow Glove Project allows Pantry clients to always be able to choose food, while also being able to maintain a clean and healthy home. http://www.thenorthsidechronicle.com/food-pantry-receives-cleaning-supplies-from-elks-lodge/
