Description

At Alt Valley Community Trust not only do we make a difference to individual people’s lives but we strive to make a significant contribution to sustainable communities and neighbourhood transformation in the Alt Valley area (Norris Green, Croxteth, Fazakerly, Clubmoor, Sparrow Hall and Croxteth Park) and also most recently in Dovecot. We do this by empowering our communities, leading to them becoming resilient and shaping a successful and sustainable future for themselves. AVCT is a Social Business and is regarded as an Anchor Organisation because of the effective, innovative and inspirational partnerships that we have developed. Our first building The Communiversity was created by a group of local activist who purchased an ‘older people’s home’ and transformed it into a lifelong learning centre. The term ‘Communiversity’ is often used to describe all of AVCT’s activities simply because it was where our organisation began and it is still our Head Office and the hub of our Community Engagement work. The Communiversity is the home of the Library, most Adult Learning classes and the Communi-café. We have a modern ICT suite, a recording studio and the venue is used regularly as a Conference facility. As well as The Communiversity, AVCT and its partner organisation NSC also own and manage several other sites. These include: Croxteth and Walton Sports Centres Alt Valley Skills Centre (formally St Swithins Church) Apprenticeship Training Centres (Tech block and Sports Block, formally Croxteth Community Comprehensive) Larkins Farm Alt Valley Creative Academy Dovecot Multi Activity Centre Hebden Parade and finally, Larkins Deli We will be regularly updating our Facebook page with upcoming events, meetings, courses, conferences and everything else we have going on and all of your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
