Alumbra Women’s Health and Maternity Care, LLC, is a nurse-midwife practice. The certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) are Elizabeth Withnall and Connie Trujillo. Alumbra midwives are experienced healthcare providers. We have graduate degrees, are nationally certified and licensed by the State of New Mexico to provide care to women of throughout their lifetime. CNMs partner with women of all ages to maintain their health. Your midwife will give you care and information based on your individual needs. We will help you make informed decisions about your health. Care by nurse-midwives has been studied and shown to be at least as safe as care by doctors, with greater patient satisfaction. CNMs are experts in normal pregnancy and birth. Your midwives will do a physical and order and evaluate your labs and other tests, including ultrasounds. We will teach you about what to look for and how to take the best care of yourself and your baby. We also monitor your health and your baby’s health and consult specialists as needed. During your labor at Alta Vista Regional Hospital, your midwife will check your progress and give you support and encouragement. Your midwife can provide pain management with or without medication. We involve your family and help you make the best choices for you and your baby. We help you have the type of birth you want with as little intervention as possible. Nurse-midwives also provide care for women who are not pregnant, of all ages. We perform annual exams, pap smears, and sexual transmitted infection screening and treatment. Your midwife provides family planning and preconception care. We also take care of women who need hormone therapy and management of incontinence. We can refer you for mammograms, lab tests, and other health screenings, as well as specialist consultations as needed. Experience the midwifery difference with the Alumbra midwives!.
