(Day 3) WINTER WEATHER CAN BE HARD ON YOUR CAR!!! Over the next several days, I will post tips to help make sure you and your car keep on running! 1) Cold weather is hard on batteries. Make sure to have the battery and charging system checked for optimum performance, to help prevent you being stranded or “late for an important date.” 2) Service your cooling system. I know it’s wintertime and temperatures are cooler so this may not make sense. A Rule of Thumb: clean, flush and put in new antifreeze every two years. 3) Make sure your heater, defrosters and wipers are working properly. Consider winter wiper blades and use cold weather washer fluid. As a general rule, wiper blades should be replaced every six months.

Winter Weather Tip #5 If you’re due for a tune-up, now is a great time to schedule it. Winter magnifies existing problems, such as pings, hard stars, sluggish performance or rough idling.

This seems like a no brainer, but dirty oil can spell t-r-o-u-b-l-e in the winter especially. But really – it’s critical to maintain the health and life of a car’s engine and overall performance. Follow your manufacturer’s recommendations for your car.
