Description

The Ministry Workshop Series will support seminarians seeking to understand how to take a stand that reflections their personal convictions and their particular traditions within communities characterized by diversity. It will explore questions such as: How do you represent your own beliefs courageously and authentically while respecting the diverse beliefs of others? How do you utilize personal reflective practice to cultivate public stands? How do you draw on historical tradition to make a stand in a contemporary context? Ministry requires faith leaders to take stands in many ways besides writing papers, giving lectures, or even giving sermons. Still, seminary trains ministers primarily to articulate their stands in these (very verbal) ways. Each workshop will draw on a non-academic methodology- including art, theatre, etc.- to help seminarians develop a more robust set of methods for taking a stand.
