A young and dynamic medical practice providing NHS and private services. We specialise in circumcisions for boys from birth to six months, undertake medical examinations for employment, life insurance, emigration, special driving licences and insurance.

Description

Our principal had for some years been concerned about the quality of circumcision provision in Leicester, and entered discussions with doctors in Leicester, both from primary care and public health, some ten years ago, on possible ways of addressing the problem. Little progress was made so he took it upon himself to be properly trained and establish a clinic, such that by July 2008 everything was in place to launch our circumcision programme. From beautiful ten-week old Aaron, our first patient, through to today, it has been our privilege to have provided circumcisions in accordance with our key objectives, namely that every boy is treated as a unique individual, not a number, with his parents fully involved in the process, and everything we can do to make the experience as stress-free as possible. Our complication rates have been gratifyingly low, well below published data, and we also have access to advice from childrens’ surgeons whenever we need to, as we collaborate closely with them. A special word of thanks must go to Ross Fisher, Consultant Paediatric surgeon at Sheffield Childrens Hospital, who has been a great colleague, mentor and friend, guiding our clinic through its evolution. Ross has also pointed us towards the use of state of the art haemostatic products that enable us to deal with the rare bleeding problems that arise, to minimise the need for hospital admission. If that weren’t enough, he has given us a laugh into the bargain, enhancing his natural good looks by helping his whiskers grow each Movember (http://uk.movember.com/mospace/108727) As word has spread about our clinic, we have had boys from as far afield as Glasgow, Inverness, Dublin and Paris. If you know any Australians or Chileans in need of our help, you know where they can find us. Perhaps our most touching testimonial is from Mrs Latifa Ali, a nurse from Glasgow, who chose to visit us for her first son’s operation in 2011. She was so pleased with the care we provided, she promised to return if she had another son, and kept to her word in 2013 with her second son. Despite a circumcision clinic having become established just five minutes drive from her home, she elected to make the 620 mile round-trip to Leicester, a truly humbling experience for our whole team. Along the way, our other major objective has been to help good causes by donating a large part of our fees to charities and not-for-profit organisations. To date we have raised around £30 000 for Interpal, The Leicester Hospitals Charity (for the Children’s Cancer Unit), Rahma Mercy and Ummah Welfare Trust, to name a few. Our latest donation of £1200 for the 65th Anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba will, we hope, in some small way, ease the hardship of the Palestinians. A final word of advice for all of you.
