Archbishop Curley's College Counseling program is grounded in a philosophy of working with each individual student to ensure success after high school.
At Archbishop Curley, we have a four year comprehensive college counseling program. We place a strong emphasis, starting in the 9th grade, on educating our young men and their families on the college search and college application processes. By the time a young man enters the 11th grade, he is prepared and equipped to effectively navigate his college search. Through workshops, one-on-one counseling, classroom visits, and college visits our goal is to help each young man identify the right schools for him as an individual. In its efforts to educate and support each student, the college counseling team is guided by the philosophy that “college is a match to be made, not a prize to be won” (Frank Sachs). Fit is therefore emphasized over perceived prestige. Each student is given the resources, awareness, and support to develop a plan which is personal and individualized. In doing so, students choose the right college/university for the right reasons which enables them to have tremendous success in their post-secondary careers.
