The Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine is the world leader in integrative medicine education, research and clinical care. In addition to a robust research program, the Center opened the University of Arizona Integrative Health Center in Phoenix, Ariz., in affiliation with District Medical Group, and offers a number of educational opportunities for the public, students practicing physicians, and everyone in between. Options open to health care practitioners include a two-year distance-learning Fellowship in Integrative Medicine, an Integrative Medicine in Residency program available through approximately 40 medical schools nationwide, an Integrative Medicine Elective Rotation for medical students, and a variety of standalone online courses designed for health care professionals and open for an informed public. Integrative medicine is healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person, including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship between practitioner and patient, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapies.
