This is my gallery of abstract expressionist paintings. Here's a bit about me and my art. ---------- I started painting a few years ago. This year I switched from realistic painting to abstract expressionist. Now I paint everyday. I enjoy the freedom of abstract painting. I don't have to follow any rules. For the first time, I don't need to make others happy to be happy. I paint for myself. I have participated in some small group shows. I love seeing how people react differently to the same painting. I enjoy experimenting with different techniques and ways of expressing myself through abstract art. I use bold cool colors with a limited palette. My paintings may be "swirly" where the eye can follow paths in multiple ways. Other paintings are more geometric or mostly blended colors. I use texture to further develop the overall feel of the painting. The textures I use include sand, grains, and thick gesso. My creative process usually starts with color selections. I imagine a conceptual design and I let the painting feed my inspiration. I'll be part way through and be struck with an "ah-ha" moment and take a different creative direction.
