Arthur J. Schmitt was an industrial executive who expressed his commitment to education, and the development of responsible leadership through Christian principles and ideals. He founded the Arthur J. Schmitt Foundation in 1941, dedicating its resources toward fashioning a better and more humane world. The Arthur J. Schmitt Leadership Fellowships are available to students in doctoral programs.

The Graduate School is happy to announce it will fund 8 Arthur J. Schmitt Leadership Fellows in 2015-16. Recipients will receive their award offers this week.
Recipients of the awards will be known as Arthur J. Schmitt Leadership Fellows.
Attention 2013-14 and 2014-15 fellows: the directors of the Arthur J. Schmitt Foundation will be on campus Thursday, October 16th. Look for details soon in your email about the afternoon meeting.
Three Schmitt Fellows received their Ph.D.s yesterday. Congratulations to them and to all of the spring, 2014 graduates!
Nominations for the 2014-15 fellowships are being processed and are under review. Decisions will be announced in early- to mid-February.

This weekend Marquette University celebrates the 50-year partnership it has enjoyed with the Arthur J. Schmitt Foundation. The Schmitt Fellowships played an important role in reestablishing graduate programs at Marquette, most of which were discontinued during World War II. To date, 473 fellowships have been awarded. Thank you, Mr. Arthur Schmitt for your vision to develop value-based leaders through graduate education, and for establishing the Arthur J. Schmitt Foundation to carry that vision out.
