AHSS is a diverse group of two schools, 13 departments and multiple centers and institutes at the University of Denver. Our 220+ faculty provide our 2,000+ students with the knowledge of the many ways in which humans live in time and in space, as individuals and in groups. Thank you for visiting our official Facebook page. This is a friendly social media site maintained by the Dean’s office for DU’s divisions of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. We have several authors for this Facebook page who all work in the Dean's Office. We would love to hear from students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends. So tell us your news or share what’s on your mind! We ask that your posts be civil and relevant to the university or the topic at hand. The goal of faculty and staff in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is to create a community that is rigorous, connected, real-world and grounded in creativity and scholarship, as well as to maintain collaborative relationships with the people and institutions of the Denver Metro area and the broader national and global society. We engage students in critical examinations of how people think, learn, communicate and perform. Students learn varied theoretical perspectives, acquire knowledge, master technical skills, develop creative talents and achieve meaningful insights about the human condition. We strive to create an ethical educational environment in which we call upon students to examine what others have thought to be true, beautiful, just and good. Together, we foster new intellectual and creative possibilities in order to understand, represent and make better the world.
