Welcome to Ascension School! As you get to know our school, we hope you will gain a greater understanding of our commitment to Catholic education.
Ascension is a school replete with opportunities and poised to take advantage of them as we embrace 21st century educational ideologies. Our small class sizes (1:16) allow for greater depth of teaching, a more individualized approach, greater ease in differentiation and the unique opportunity to build deeper relationships with students and parents, which allows a firm understanding of each student's inimitable learning profile. Our unrivaled Distance Learning Classroom is a multi-point, collaborative environment promoting full class participation and increased engagement. The Distance Learning Room enables students to take virtual field trips and collaborate with any desired part of the world through a High Definition Video conferenciing System and SMART Bridgit conferencing Software. The High Definition Video Conferencing System allows the students to see and hear remote participants in classrooms worldwide while the Bridgit Software allows both classrooms to collaborate on any document or project through desktop sharing. Our sound financial planning and dedicated community has brought us to a 1:1 iPad initiative in our Middle School. This gives each student and teacher the ability to learn and teach on a tailor made basis while keeping us on the cutting edge. We have plans to continue the 1:1 initiative in all grades. Beyond technology, we will continue to encourage each student's creativity through music, art, drama and play as we recognize that each student has talents in diverse areas. Sincerely, Terrence Mullaney Prinicpal As a vital ministry of the Church of the Ascension, our school's mission is to recognize the uniqueness of all students in a caring, disciplined environment that exemplifies Christ's command to serve one another. Ascension School fosters excellence in academics and promotes spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical growth of the whole child. The faculty, supported by the parish staff, School Board, and Parent Teacher Organization, recognizes that students must be prepared to meet challenges of an ever changing world and to live cooperatively as critical thinkers and problem solvers in a global society. Love of GOD, human dignity, justice, ecumenism, service to others, stewardship, and excellence are among the values lived. The vision of the Ascension staff is to foster a Catholic community that models Jesus' teaching at home, at school, and in our community. We strive to ensure an academic program of excellence that challenges each student to achieve his/her maximum potential. Our vision is to expand student involvement in global issues, technology, foreign language, and cultural programs.
