The Ashton Court Estate was once the gracious home of the Smyth family, and is now a historic park near the centre of Bristol. It covers 850 acres of woods and grasslands in total, designed by Humphry Repton. It has over 1.6 million visitors annually making the country park the UK's third busiest. Visit the Ashton Court Estate to discover the magnificent old oak trees and see the deer graze in an estate that first became a deer park over 600 years ago. On the estate's higher ground, there are two 18-hole pitch-and-putt golf courses, with stunning views across the city. Orienteering and mountain biking are catered for with special trails, and there is plenty of open space for family games and picnics. There is also a miniature railway, which is open on selected weekends throughout the year. Cafes in the Mansion's former stables and at the golf course provide wholesome and delicious refreshments. Ashton Court Estate is open from 8am every day. Gates close at 9.15pm however the park is accessible to pedestrians 24-hours. Two onsite cafes at the stables and at the golf serve delicious and responsibly sourced food daily. The park plays host to a range of events throughout the year, including the internationally renowned Balloon Fiesta, music festivals and active pursuits. Activities include ballooning, disc golf, running, mountain biking, a miniature railway, golf, horse riding, orienteering and more.
