Description

Based in North Belfast which experiences high levels of unemployment, poverty and social deprivation, ACT Employment & Training Services is working towards the sustained economic, social and physical regeneration of the area through a long term people-centred development strategy. We have extensive experience in managing projects that develop well-being, employability, employment and social-economic regeneration aimed at responding strategically to the needs of those most at risk of social exclusion and long-term unemployed and economically inactive. Employment and Training Services deliver various programmes relevant to the welfare to work theme. These programmes have been designed to improve peoples skills and knowledge in relation to the workplace and providing them with help and support through access to many of its support services and partnerships that will enable them in addressing any barriers they may face when seeking to gain employment or enter into training. These services exist to promote social and economic inclusion for everyone in the community and where required, to assist those in gaining appropriate employment. We have a long track record of working closely with the local community and over the years the organisation has developed strong links with local community groups, schools and employers. The Ashton Centre is a recognised training centre for a wide range of qualifications. For the past 20 years Employment & Training Services has been delivering a wide variety of training and employability initiatives to the unemployed. These services are provided through 19 plus outreach centres across North Belfast to ensure that all section of the community have access. This has been made possible with the help of our funders and partners - the Department for Social Development; Department of Employment and Learning; European Social Fund and Belfast City Council. Some of Ashtons most recent work initiatives that have seen our team meet these targets include: North Belfast Works Programme; Progress to Employment; LEMIS Programme; Womens Training Programme; Community ICT Project; LAEP Project and Community Access Lifelong Learning.
