SCHOOL PROGRAMS The Katherine Hamm Center, a Listening & Spoken Language Program, serves children from infancy through elementary school age who are deaf or hard of hearing. Students in our Auditory-Verbal Program communicate through listening and talking only. The Wardlaw School serves children with mild to moderate language-based learning disabilities, including dyslexia. For Kindergarteners through 6th graders, the Wardlaw School provides personalized instruction and prepares children for a mainstream educational setting as quickly as possible. Stepping Stones is the only preschool program of its kind in Georgia, providing therapeutic education for young children with speech and/or language difficulties. The program has a learning disability specialist, speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, and psychologist on its staff. The Anne and Jim Kenan Preschool is a mainstream preschool program that serves children two to five years of age. Its curriculum addresses the key areas that research indicates must be fostered to develop early literacy skills in young children. CLINIC and COMMUNITY PROGRAMS The Rollins Center for Language & Learning is a professional development program that partners with public school systems, individual schools, and preschools to provide teachers with training, mentoring, and coaching, so that young children will develop into proficient readers. The Speech-Language Pathology Clinic provides comprehensive evaluations and treatment for children and adults from with communication difficulties. The Audiology Clinic provides evaluations and remediation for adults, children, and infants with communication difficulties in which hearing loss or auditory processing plays a part. This includes hearing aid dispensing, programming, and maintenance. This clinic also serves as a referral source for Georgia’s Universal Newborn Hearing Screening program and provides non-medical cochlear implant services. The Occupational Therapy Clinic serves children from infancy to adolescence who experience difficulties in sensory integration, gross and fine motor coordination, visual perception, visual motor and handwriting skills, independent self care, and feeding skills. The Learning Evaluation Clinic provides comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to students from their last year of preschool through their college years.
