Old Post Office, Newark

i have emailed customers services about my issues, no reply. put them on the facebook page, its deleted and im band so i would just like to let people know just what the postie is REALLY like, and share my PERSONAL experiances. my opinion cannot be silenced. My family and I visited the Old Post Office in Newark a few weeks ago, for a meal to finish the day after visiting the cinema which is a regular thing- we go in there regulary after trips to Lincoln/Nottingham, just for a meal out, or for meals with other members of the family and meetings. This day we arrived there at around just after 6pm. We got our drinks and sat down to look at the food menu to decide our meals. My husband went up to the bar to order the food, where he was told we couldnt be served, as it was after 6 and we had a child with us. I went up to the bar to question this and was told by the lady there that it is "company policy". I asked since when, and she said it has always been this way. This year we have visited this pub around 9 times for a meal, each and every time it has been after 6pm, the lady that refused to serve us today has served us before on several occasions prior to this! She was extremly snotty with us, infront of my son too who is only 4 at the time. We asked to speak to the manager about this, and she basically said no and SHE was in charge and the manager would not be available to us. When asked further about this she walked off and ignored all questions. When we left the pub, a male waiter outside apologised for the inconveniance. We told him it is not his fault, and we said to him he has served us after 6 himself WHICE HE ADMITTED TO. After the way we have been treated (and after what we heared after going to Weatherspoons after here) and as a local of this town, i am going to recommend to everyone i know that this pub is to be avoided. Its a shame this has happened, i spent alot of money in here, not just meals, but for drinks and socialising. It is not just me you have treated poorly, but members of my immediate family as well. If it is so called company policy not to serve after 6 with children, then what will happen to this bar maid? As she as served us lots of times after 6, therefore, if what she said is true, then she has broke company policy, will she be reprimanded . if not, why not? as this is gross misconduct. My father has also been asked to leave this pub, for the simple fact he had been in there for OVER 5 HOURS, eventhough he had eaten. again, they said its customer policy, that if they was in there drinking all day and something happened, they would be held responcible. they also said this is the LAW, which it certainly isnt! a friend of the family who is severly diabetic also joined us the other day (we wasnt in by choice, my father insisted). she was feeling very ill and needed foor immediatly, til a man came out and told her she has to stop eating her bun (in other words, telling her if she eats it she gets barred, or if she doesnt she goes into a coma, nice choice huh?) he was very snotty. then the manager came out after my dad kicked off, and we put all this to him, but he wouldnt answer any of it!! this pub is a sham, my husband has been a HEAD chef for 11 years and worked in many many pubs, as has my best friend RUNNING pubs, and neither of them have ever heared of suck bull that the post office comes out with, nor have they ever seen anything like it. its discusting. i will not be silenced as i said. this is showing my opinions and i do have a good idea to talk to the papers/entertainment magazines
