The ARRC has been established to provide people with access to resources, information, stories, workshops and conferences that combine to develop a sense of belonging for people who care about Australia’s rivers. The way we think about our rivers is often defined in prescriptive, ‘rational’ ways, yet when it comes to making decisions, we know that people use emotion to guide their behaviour. The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. www.flyingdoctor.org.au The Royal Flying Doctor Service has been serving Australian communities for 90 years. From humble beginnings in 1928, the RFDS now has a fleet of 68 aircraft operating from 24 bases around the country. We help 290,000 patients every year, that's one every two minutes! Traditionally recognised for the provision of emergency services, the RFDS today has expanded its role to incorporate a broader range of health services to rural and remote Australia. The RFDS is a not-for-profit organisation and whilst supported by the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments, relies heavily on fundraising initiatives to finance the purchase and medical fit-out of our aircraft and other major capital initiatives.
