A PSA about OTAs (Online Travel Agencies) like Expedia, Price Line, Travelocity etc. Yes, we are listed there. However, I'm going to ask that you NOT book through them for a number of reasons. 1. They show you the same price that's available on our website (please go there or you can book on our Facebook page too) 2. If you call those numbers, you might just get someone on the other line pretending to be us.They may or may not give you correct information. Kid you not, it happened today! 3. They may even charge you a 'fee' that will make the price higher than our listed rates for the same day, same room (also happened today, same guest as #2) 4. They charge your credit card right away (we don't). 5. The only people 'making out' on the deal are the OTAs. You pay more and I get less. :( This has been your friendly OTA PSA.

I absolutely LOVE to make scones! Here's a recipe from my friends 8 Broads in the Kitchen: Cranberry orange scones From Eight Broads in the Kitchen Blog --- INGREDIENTS --- 2 cups flour 1 Tablespoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt (preferable Kosher) 1/4 cup sugar 1 1/4 cups heavy cream 1 cup sun dried cranberries 1 Tablespoon orange zest --- DIRECTIONS --- Preheat oven to 425. Measure dry ingredients and mix together in a bowl with a fork. Add the dried cranberries and orange zest and mix so that the fruit doesn't stick together. Add cream and stir until a soft dough forms. Gather the dough together in a bowl and turn out onto a work surface dusted with flour. Knead 8-10 times until the dough holds together. Pat dough into a circle approximately 10" in diameter. (At this point, Janet would brush with melted butter and dust with coarse sugar. We don't even bother with this since they are so darn good without). Cut into 12 triangles and place on parchment covered baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes until just browned.
Welcome new fans - Alicia, Tim, Mary, Jennifer and Gene!
