History of Auto Chek Centers, Inc.
In 1984, shortly after a new law went into effect requiring California motorists to have their automobile emission systems inspected every two years when their registration came due, Auto Chek Centers entered the young industry with a complete, step-by-step strategy to meet California's growing need for smog inspection. The Company opened its first 10-minute smog testing center in West Los Angeles in November 1984. And as a tribute to the successful concept Auto Chek Centers developed, its Fullerton center opened two years later. Auto Chek Centers currently operates six smog test and registration centers in Southern California. In addition to smog tests the company also offers auto registration services to it's customer. Paperwork was processed at the location and walked into a commercial registration center where the paperwork would be finished by the DMV. The company would then mail the customer their registration card and sticker. In 1996, Auto Chek Centers joined OLRS in a public private partnership which allowed the Company to issue registration cards and stickers on site. In 2007, title transfers and new license plate issuance was brought into the program. In 2008, issuance of replacement stickers and registration credentials was added. In 2011, the program incorporated the ability to process applications for replacement titles.
