Next time your teens complain that they will never use anything learned in math class in real life don’t forget to remind them about the incredible value of learning to think logically, to persevere in the face of a challenge, and to stay calm and confident when stumped by a problem you just can’t seem to solve at first. When was the last time you got through an entire day without needing to use those skills????
Awesome Exam Tip #2: Successful exam preparation in math & science subjects requires excellent TIME MANAGEMENT and ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS since they tend to be time consuming subjects to learn. Successful exam writing in math & science subjects requires a CLEAR STATE OF MIND and a certain degree of EMOTIONAL MANAGEMENT since these subjects are difficult for most people and can be very frustrating.
Awesome Exam Tip #1: TEENS!Try to pay attention to how you learn best. Do you need to hear things to really understand them & remember them? Then you may need to "talk" out the information for an exam. Can you remember nothing if you don't write it down? You probably need to make a great set of study notes for your exam & rewrite them a few times. Some students even learn best with music on in the background to help them focus longer, or some need to "move" when studying eg. pacing back & forth while rereading study notes several times. Might sound strange but we all learn differently... the key to success is to find out what works best for YOU & do it CONSISTENTLY!!!

Happy New school year all!
All learning is ultimately emotionally motivated. All actions that lead to the achievement of a goal are ultimately emotionally motivated. The guidance of a passionate & accessible teacher can provide the emotional fuel needed to sustain long-term motivation to work at achieving academic goals in the most difficult of times. That is why educators must never forego building a personal connection with students and focus exclusively on the subject matter.
