The Bald Rock Hotel is an historic pub in the suburb of Rozelle, overlooking White Bay in the inner-west of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is the oldest continuously licensed hotel still operating in the Balmain and Rozelle area.
The pub is a heritage-listed, three storey building with exposed sandstone to the ground level. The original construction was in the Victorian Filligree style, however removal of the upper level balcony and other modifications now leave a building in the Victorian Free Classical style. The hotel has retained the original sandstone interior.
Parking is easy at the Bald Rock Hotel. If you are planning to drive, it’s important that you stay under .05 blood alcohol concentration — the national legal limit. Don’t drink and drive! Best of all walk, or catch a cab, or take a bus, or visit our little pub with a non-alcohol drinking nominated driver. It’s very easy to get to the historic Bald Rock Hotel from the city by bus — take numbers 441 or 442 from Stand B outside the QVB in York Street. Ask the driver for Mansfield Street (there’s a Bald Rock Hotel banner attached to the fence and the bus stop is at speed-hump/pedestrian crossing). Walk to the end of Mansfield — you won’t miss our historic hotel on the left.Remember, if you’ve been drinking and decide to walk home or to another place: alcohol slows pedestrians, not the traffic!
