ABOUT ME Hi I am Barbara. I am a fully Certified Clinical Massage Therapist with 10 years experience. My speciality is effectively treating chronic pain conditions, combining many advanced techniques that I have acquired with the Jing Institute of Advanced Massage along with other effective therapies I have learnt along my journey as a holistic practitioner. Clinical/medical massage, which incorporates various techniques, including myofascial release, trigger points therapy and sport/deep tissue techniques fused together with structural integration has been tailored to relieve pain in the body caused by injury, chronic postural problems or other chronic body aches and pain. Together with this specialization, since 2003 I have been studying and practising many complementary therapies. I fuse them together in the sessions with my clients to achieve the best outcome and address the complexities of each individual condition, making the healing process quicker and more effective. I believe that each person is a unique universe with his/her own rhythms and that the more techniques are used to tackle a specific health matter, the quicker the body will return to a stage of homeostasis. For this purpose I am now fully qualified in advanced reflexology ( hands, ears and feet), thermal auricular therapy, pregnancy massage, indian head massage, crystal therapy, hot stones therapy, reiki 1 and 2, swedish massage, and aromatherapy (MICHT, ITEC, MAR, AoR). I am also working with cancer patients in hospitals or in the comfort of their home, providing oncology massage treatments that are not invasive but yet tailored to relieve secondary symptoms of cancer (nausea, insomnia, depression and anxiety to list some) and to accommodate the delicate situation the cancer patients experience along the cancer journey, where pain, a severely compromised immune system, the side effects of chemo/radiotherapy and the possibility to break up a tumour create a complex case history. Oncology massage diploma is a post-graduate specialization I am acquiring that is enabling me to adjust my treatments on people with cancer in a way that is the safest possible. Without personal training in how to adjust such treatments to the patient’s needs, the normal massage can be unsafe. At present I am actively providing aromatherapy treatments to the staff, nurses and doctors at the Brighton hospital cancer department and breast cancer unit in Preston park, Brighton. My work experience also includes providing holistic therapies to elderly, HIV sufferers, mothers to be, chronic sufferers and cancer patients. I run a clinic in Lewes, and Haywards Heath and I have my own private mobile practice offering complementary treatments throughout Sussex. I am a member of the Association of Reflexologists (Aor) and of the Federation of Holistic therapists (FHT).
