He was told not to give a price until he knew what the customer wanted for their trade in, and, never give them a payment on the car until after they agree to buy it. These profit maximizing strategies seemed like a ridiculous way to do business! Why not just give them a price AND a payment the moment they asked? Better yet, just put it on the car’s windshield. Can’t we just make buying a car more like buying clothes or shopping for groceries?, thought Bart. The answer was YES, he could. So he did! Bart’s Car Store was opened on December 19th, 1995 with the idea of changing the way a customer can buy cars. Since then, Bart’s has sold over 60,000 vehicles. That’s enough to stretch from Indianapolis, Indiana to Milwaukee, Wisconsin!
