There will be no debate tonight, due to it being the last Student council meeting of the year.
Great debate tonight. I am only disappointed by the poor show from the students. Interestingly the SU did not send a single representative. Shame on you.
Don't Forget the Big Debate is on tonight at the SU. The Republic believes that the Monarchy is undemocratic and should be abolished. Conservitave Parlementry candidate James Heappey will be present along with a member from the Republic Movement. The Debate starts at 6:30 pm
Since I have had a request for a less than serious debate this week the motion is as follows. The house believes that even the French dislike the French. I think it only fair that Jo leads this motion. Dont forget both William and Alice will be given five mins to discuss why they should be chosen for president. This will be followed by an anonymous vote for next years president.
Finally Decided, Bruce Galliver gets my vote for president.
OK it the final of the Mater Debaters tournament this week. The motion is a s follows. The house believes that Dyslexia is a made up disease. I will toss a coin before the debate to decide which side each house is on. I will also be posting a few news stories to help. Good luck to both houses.

I need to book it by lunch time tomorrow (Wednesday 18th) as they are holding the date for us. Please do this via email (if you are seeing the Facebook post) email@example.com

Hi Guys, We where not sure if everyone would be available on the first day back. Plus everyone has on deadline or another so the debating society will convene again next week on Monday. The debate will be carried over from December. The house believes the Ginger people have no souls.

Good morning! Tonight's debate is 'can war ever be justified'. See you later.
Thanks to everyone who turned up to debate last night... Oh wait, no one did! Not very impressed, especially considering some of us do a 40 mile round trip to get there. I certainly could have done with a more productive evening, I have deadlines too, you know. If you are not going to be there, common decency dictates you should apologise! We don't mind if you can't be there, just it would be nice to know in advance so we don't make wasted journeys in. So, therefore the debate will be carried forward onto next week. 'This house believes religion has done more harm than good' See you then
Hi everyone! Just a reminder that tonight's debate will be ' The house believes that religion has done more harm than good in the world'
Good morning! As it's just been Remembrance Day, tonight's debate is 'can war ever be justified'. See you later.
The debate for tomorrow night is drawn from Jean Jacques Rousseau's statement. 'Man is born free but everywhere there's chains.' The house believes that no one is born free.
Due to no meeting last week we will use the previous debate posted. The Debate for tonight will be. The house believes that all Britain's that choose to fight for terrorist groups such as ISIS should lose their citizenship even if this results in them becoming a man(or woman) without a country.

Just a reminder about debating tonight, with the debate carried over from last week. The debate shall be: 'The house believes that Europe has a responsibility to defend Ukraine from Russian invasion even if this means declaring war.'
It would seem nobody has bowed out of the debate this week so unless I hear different the debate will be held at 6pm as normal. The debate shall be. The house believes that Europe has a responsibility to defend Ukraine from Russian invasion even if this means declaring war.
The debating society will not be meeting tonight due to lots of members being bogged down with work. We will try again next week.
Sorry guys I cannot attend tonight I have must finish this essay tonight. Is there a reading week next week or should we meet up?
What a great event the paint-ball day was this year. Not only did we have a great day we beat every other team and walked out victorious. We will be debating on Monday as usual and we will be holding the elections for next years officers.
OK it is almost time for the debating society paintball day. All those that wish to be picked up from Bath spa Uni need to be ready at 7:50 prompt. All those that are to be picked up from McDonalds on the little retail part must be there at 8am prompt. I will need £5 pounds of each of your for petrol as we are transporting you in three cars. Please could you confirm where it is you would like to get picked up. Remember the day is paid for but if you need extras such as gun upgrades, flak jackets, grenades and extra paintballs (other than the 200 you are given at the start) then you will need to pay for these yourselves. I look forward to hearing from you all as soon as possible so I can plan which vehicles to put everyone in.
Right, let's have a debate tonight! Debate is carried over from last week so it 'The house believes that the states stand on not criminalising children for crimes just creates more prolific criminals as adults.' See you later!
The debate for tonight is. The house believes that the states stand on not criminalising children for crimes just creates more prolific criminals as adults.
Cara and I will net be able to attend tonight we have a bit of a family crisis going on at the moment.
All, with regards to paintballing, we have two possible dates available Sunday 26th April and Saturday 9th May. Brittania (AKA Delta Force) have been very generous and have offered to waive the normal fee and match old Groupon deals, which means that it will be £12 per head (based on 10 people – this goes down slightly if we have more), this gets us all day paintballing at South Bristol (amazing centre), 200 paintballs EACH and lunch. Society coffers will cover the majority of this (depending on how many people are going) and it’s likely the only cash you will have to use will be to upgrade your gun - £10 (if required), £2 for body armor (definitely suggested), £6.99 for glove pack (not really needed but nice little extra) and for flashbangs, grenades and smoke grenades (for those who want the full John Rambo effect). Depending on if we can have the mini bus or not around it will be around £5 each for petrol. All society members will be invited (even those who have never attended meetings) and I need to ask all those who have yet to pay for their membership – we know who you are – to swiftly do this (before Monday) so that we can book this up. I am sending this to all paid up members via university email and posting it here on the facebook page. If you can let me know which date suits you best we will go with the consensus.
