Thank you to everyone in Arkholme who came out to support the Lights Out evening last night. It was a great night had by all.
Here is something to Reflect on before tonight's event. Thankful Village Arkholme is one of only two Thankful Villages in Lancashire – those rare places that suffered no fatalities during the Great War of 1914 to 1918. This small village sent by far the biggest number from one village and parish off to war – 59. It is remarkable that all 59 returned to their homes. A nearby village, Nether Kellet, 5 miles to the south west, sent 21 men and it, too, is a Thankful Village – all their men returned. According to an article on the BBC website (), Arkholme and Nether Kellet were also doubly Thankful Villages. If this is the case, it makes Lancashire the only county with more than one Thankful Village where all Thankful Villages are also doubly thankful (Thankful Villages).
Please come and join us to Reflect, Remember and Refill ! Tonight at the Bay Horse Arkholme. We will be taking part in Lights Out at 10pm until 11pm this does mean we are open even though the lights are out. We look forward to seeing you later.
BEER raffle will be drawn today at 9pm. You still have 7hrs and 33 min to have a go. £1 per strip and you could win 1 gallon of beer. That's 8 pints for £1. All money raised will go to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. Thanks for your support
