Description
Bayanihan Clinic provides weekly medical clinics, specialty care, and outreach services to those in need. We operate solely from the dedication of our volunteers consisting of undergraduate students, graduate students, medical students and physicians. The clinic is managed by Dr. Luz Guerrero, medical director of Bayanihan Clinic, medical student directors, and an undergraduate board. Together, we work as a team to provide patients with quality healthcare, including diagnostic screenings, blood and urine tests, physical examinations, prescriptions, psychiatric consultations and referrals. Patient education workshops and social services are also provided during the weekly clinics. The outreach aspect of Bayanihan Clinic involves going out to the surrounding Sacramento communities and providing diagnostic blood glucose and blood pressure checks, patient education and exercise, and moral support. Our outreach services currently extend to community health fairs and Veteran organizations within Sacramento and Yuba City. The goal of outreach is to educate patients about prominent diseases, such as diabetes and obesity, and the steps necessary to prevent these diseases.

Bayanihan Clinic's primary care services include: • Preventative services- A patient generally comes to clinic with a particular health concern, and this concern (the patient’s chief complaint) is addressed at the clinic. This includes immunizations, flu shots, cholesterol counts, physical exams, etc. • Referrals- Because the clinic is able to only provide limited health care delivery, patients with more serious complications will be referred to specialists in the area. • Social services- During an examination, a student working in the clinic may learn of a social issue that may need to be addressed. • Health education- The public health component of the clinic includes a workshop on a particular health issue, posters placed throughout the clinic, brochures distributed to patients, and health information available in the waiting room. • Healthy Breast Program- Bayanihan is a recipient of the Susan G. Komen Grant where we provide free mammograms and outreach to communities while emphasizing the importance of early screenings and breast cancer.Company Rating
