2016-2017 Student Council: President: Eric Lee Vice President: Hohyun Ryu Vice President: Jane Lin Treasurer: Ian Chan Secretary: Celine Yong Social Convenor: Brent Choi Public Relations Officer: Jennifer Ma Minister of External Affairs: Joy Wang Gr 12 Rep: Lucy Yu Gr 11 Rep: Andy Chen Gr 10 Rep: Allen Lu Gr 9 Rep: TBA The Student Council is made up of students who are elected by the students of Bayview Secondary School. The Council is composed of: a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer, External Affairs Officer, Social Convenor, and an elected grade representative for each year. Their role on Council is to represent and serve the students by organizing events that inform, educate, entertain, and thereby enrich the Bayview experience. The Council organizes school dances, a Semi-Formal, fund-raising activities, "Spirit" events, leadership conferences and assemblies. The Council has, in the past, through its fund-raising activities made charitable donations to York Central Hospital, the United Way, The Child Adoption Program, student bursaries and other worthy causes that have been brought to the Council's attention. The Council also contributes to improving many school facilities. Each student is asked to purchase the student activity fee to assist in supporting these worthy events and programs at Bayview. Participation in certain sports, clubs, dances, and many other events REQUIRES THE PURCHASE OF THE ACTIVITY FEE as does eligibility for a transit pass and parking pass. The council then distributes funds from student activity fees to school clubs and teams.
