24/7 Dog Boarding and Rescue Facility I've been involved in animal rescue since I was 21 years old. This is my passion, particularly dog rescue. I started pet sitting as a "side effect" of rescue and now it's what I do for a living. I need to grow my business and I want to be able to devote space in my business for housing rescue dogs that are sponsored by local 501(c)3 groups. My business is unique because I run it from home and intend to keep it "home-style" upon obtaining a commercial facility. The building will never be locked up overnight with no human caretaker present. Dogs will never be kenneled all day long. The dogs will be free to play, drink, and have plenty of opportunities for potty breaks. There will be sofas, toys, and television! When I build up my paying clientele enough to be profitable, I can reserve space specifically for charity to provide refuge for rescues while they wait for a foster or forever home. Start-up funding is desperately needed! I can't obtain a "small business loan" for this and will need the first few months rent and some appliances to get started. I'm offering extreme discounted dog boarding rewards for donations to help get the ball rolling. This could be a huge help for someone who travels a lot, a military dog owner who is deploying, or someone who sponsors boarding for rescue dogs. Incentive dog boarding is for one dog (unless otherwise stated) which must be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and 100% dog-friendly. Human anxiety can be worked around as I am accustomed to dealing with fearful animals that have been mistreated, and they will not be interacting with many strangers. Owners/sponsors of boarded dogs must provide their food and ongoing preventative and/or emergency vet care. I will provide transportation to and from vet visits and can pick up food as needed. A $500 donation will secure up to one month of boarding for one qualified dog. A $1,000 donation will secure up to 60 days of boarding for one qualified dog. A $5,000 donation will secure up to one year of boarding for one dog or, for a rescue needing boarding for different dogs, up to one year combined for one qualified dog at a time. Contributions of $10,000 or above reserve up to two years of boarding for one dog or, for a rescue needing boarding for different dogs, up to two years combined for one qualified dog at a time. Alternatively, two qualified dogs may be boarded simultaneously for up to one year. Stipulations on rewards: Rewards for donations of $500 and up may be used as soon as the new facility is ready for operation. My emergency vet of choice is just across the street and so is a discount vaccine clinic where I can take long-term boarders to keep everything current. The not so pretty details: This will be my first time actually opening a commercial location. I lost my job to an illness several years ago and that wrecked my credit, which has made it impossible to obtain funding through traditional means. There is, however, a bright side! Before my life was turned upside down a few years ago with an illness and job loss, I had good credit and helped everyone close to me build theirs. I can recover, given the opportunity to do so. It was changed to be more suitable for a tax office for a previous tenant. Nobody wants to pick up a muddy dog when they're exhausted after a trip! - We need a large business sign to put at the entrance of the parking lot, so that it's visible to commuters and folks visiting nearby businesses. - To safely keep our canine guests in, and other critters out, we'll need fence reinforcements and chicken wire dug into the entire perimeter of the back yard. - It's not necessary but would be fantastic to have a professional dog bathing tub installed where there is existing plumbing to support it. This would make cleaning up dirty dogs a heck of a lot simpler! - This one is an absolute pipe dream, but it can't hurt to put it out there, right? I dream of a permanent, concrete, dog swimming pool where all the water dogs can swim to their hearts' content and those who may not want to swim can at least get their paws wet on hot summer days!
