Happy Thanksgiving to all and blessings for a wonderful day
Congratulations to Dr. Sean Daneshman on another morning interview on KUSI. This is "premature birth awareness day" in San Diego. If you are pregnant, please educate yourself on signs of premature birth and stay healthy and active through this wonderful time in your life.
Congratulations to our newest DONA-approved Birth Doula Trainer, Diana Kay! She successfully completed the requirements to be approved and she will be a great resource to our local doulas!
Goals for the day: it's the first Saturday of January, and new parents, you might be up already with your little ones feeding or attending to their needs. Slow down and enjoy this lazy, cold Saturday morning with your wee one. In a few short years, your Saturday mornings will be busy with soccer or t-ball or kid get togethers, so slow down and embrace this precious, short lived time.
Day 2 of goals from BB: did you know that the majority of our doulas are not only birth/postpartum doulas, but also lactation specialists? If you need help with breastfeeding, you can get a home visit from a laceration educator or if you need more help, then Leilani Wilde is an IBCLC and you can find her on our website.
Happy New Year. Make a goal for the year: ours is "Unconditional support"- we support all birth and parenting choices and guide the new parents through the ever changing role as parents. Birth and parenting is important: a doula can help and we at Beautiful Beginnings are honored to be a part of that journey.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good night's sleep.
Our fun Meet and Greet and Cookie Exchange is this Sunday. Please let us know if you'd like to attend- RSVP and details on the BB website
Birth Doula Training update. I have cancelled the October DONA training in San Diego. Please refer to dona.org for other options and my next San Diego training will be in March 2015. Instead, I am going to Hawaii the following weekend. There will be a training in September for the Inland Empire area so please check out that information as well. www.preparingtheparents.org
Good Morning San Diego, we wish all a safe day. If you have any questions about care for yourself and your baby, contact the postpartum doulas on our website to talk to someone who can give you tips to keep yourself cool and how to calm your baby. For our expecting mamas, please take it easy, drink lots of fluids to stay hydrated and consider staying inside out of the smoke. For our doulas in the affected areas of the fires, please contact us for a safe space to go or other needs. Stay cool (and still classy) San Diego
Wishing all our mothers, mothers to be, and grandmothers, and our sister doula mothers, the happiest of Mother's Day. It is our honor to help you through your parenting time and have a beautiful day!
Our website has a bun in the oven that is maturing and will be debuting in May... More information to come this May.
Wow, Dr. Joe and Stacey Merlo look amazing on KUSI TV this morning. I trained Stacey to be a birth doula and we refer to Dr. Joe and Good Vibrations Chiropactic on our website.
If you haven't checked out this months' San Diego Family Magazine, please do so. Beautiful Beginnings was the Spotlight Business of the month. Our doulas are awesome, we offer a lot of services to birthing families, from childbirth education to breastfeeding support, birth and postpartum support and local resources. We have a DONA-Approved Birth Doula Workshop in San Diego this weekend. The next one in San Diego will be in June.
