Jodi LaBossiere Msc.d is the founder and innovative force behind Beauty by LaBossiere. A licensed esthetician, best -selling author and beauty industry insider with more than 30 years of experience, Jodi has been involved in just about every aspect of the industry. From research and development to standing in front of the cameras hosting at Shop HQ (Shop NBC). Jodi has seen it all and what she has seen was an industry that is so caught up in buzz words, dollars/sq. ft. and political correctness that it has forgotten why women need skin care. That is why Jodi started Beauty by LaBossiere. Jodi’s Story: In Her Own Words jodi-the-beauty-QueenAt the age of 14 I started my first job in the beauty industry. I became the neighborhood’s youngest Avon Lady. I loved knocking on doors and showing my friend’s moms the newest products and helping them pick out what they needed. I knew then I would always be doing something in the beauty industry. Fast forward several years and to the age of 25. I was travelling the world as a model loving every minute of it until I started get what I thought were allergic reactions turns out (after 11 years of misdiagnosis and brain dead doctors) I suffered from Celiac disease and I was the lucky 1 in 15,000 Celiacs that got dermatitis herpetiformis from the disease. Looking like a blistered freak was not helpful to being a swimwear – model. Although I got the Celiac under control my skin was horrible! I tried everything to get my skin back to some kind of normalcy. I became the queen of the camouflage make up and wore products like Dermablend daily. It was truly demoralizing. People who have skin issues know what I am talking about. When your skin doesn’t look good you don’t feel good and people (although they may not say anything, they notice). Jodi-the-modelAfter suffering for all of those years, I wanted to do everything possible to prevent otherAbout BBLs from going through the same pain. I research everything and I aligned myself with some of the industry’s top cosmetic chemists and brands. For years I work for other brands in sales, education, and even product development. It was a fantastic time as I learned everything not only about creating products, but also about the selling of products and how the nation’s top buyers decided to bring products in (which is sadly based on marketing dollars and sales per square foot and not quality of the product). One day I was in the green room at Shop NBC (after having a killer 8 minute segment that sold more than Suzanne Somers did in the next 2 hours). I was watching the computer (as were the buyers) the numbers were climbing and it was awesome! Then I watched the next product do its thing and the next and the next. People were not buying skin care, they were buying “hope” in a jar (funny how someone put that on a jar and sold millions~ sad really). That is when the idea of Beauty by LaBossiere was born. We don’t need all of this “Crap in a jar”. We need quality products that actually work and an honest attitude that educates the consumer about where their skin care ends and their lifestyle begins. At Beauty by LaBossiere we are getting “Back to Basics” and I am excited to bring my tribe what I think are just that: Good quality, basic products that work so we can all look as good as we can as long as we can…
