Cool water for a healthy complexion Washing your face in hot chlorinated water can lead to skin irritation and dryness however turning the temperature down will often alleviate the problem because there is less of a chemical reaction. Hot water on your face may also lead to enlarged red blood vessels (capillaries) that could result in permanent redness on your nose and cheeks. If you have oily skin, the oil glands (sebaceous) can overreact leading to further oiliness. Pressing a very hot face washer on your face to ‘open the pores’ will also result in the above issues including dry skin. The solution is simply to use cool or luke warm water and avoid putting your face under a hot shower. The best way to cleanse your skin? Don't use soap! It is the wrong pH and will lead to dryness or an over-reaction of the oil glands making your skin feel oily. Use Beauty By Nature Purifying Face Wash, Gentle Foaming Cleanser or Light & Gentle Cleansing Milk for perfectly clean skin! http://www.beautybynature.com.au/shop/cleansers-and-toners/light-and-gentle-cleansing-milk/
Lipstick – food for thought (as seen in the Beauty Article I wrote for the Gold Coast Friday Flyer) On average woman wear lipstick, chapsticks or gloss at least several days a week and reapply at least once a day. If you wear lipstick consider the ingredients and also your lipstick consumption. Dyes, often containing toxic ingredients used to colour lipsticks, petroleum oils, synthetic waxes and preservatives will be ingested as lipstick wears off the lips. Consider swapping to a safe mineral makeup lipstick that is coloured using pigment from mineral clays and oxides, with natural waxes and oils. Although they may not have the staying power of conventional makeup lipsticks, at least you’ll know you won’t be ingesting questionable chemicals. Vanessa :)
