Description

To encourage positive change and acts of kindness, we send “promise cards“ to anywhere in the world at no cost. People use these cards to remember the importance of their word, for promises both big and small. It might just seem like a piece of paper, but promise cards have motivated people to stick with their commitments to better humanity. A heroin addict’s promise to stay in rehab. A young girl’s promise to stop cutting herself. Or a simple promise to volunteer at the local food bank. We have distributed over 1,275,000 promise cards to over 105 different countries! As a nonprofit organization, because I said I would executes charitable projects that inspire others to make promises that better humanity. We have helped the victims of Hurricane Sandy, sent children with cancer to Disneyland, raised awareness about the dangers of drunk driving and much more. Since we only have a small team, our projects are often in support of other nonprofits and their amazing efforts. -------- FIRST POST TO THIS PAGE Posted on September 5th, 2012: "My dad died yesterday. On July 4th, 2011, he was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. The disease spread and took his life. I have been getting texts, facebook messages and wall posts all day and night from friends and family expressing their condolences. “I’m so sorry, Alex.” “I’m sorry for your loss.” “I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.” “I’m really sorry about your dad” “I wish there was something I could do…” “Whatever you need.” My father was nothing outstanding. He wasn’t an award winning author. He never met the President. He never won a marathon. But what my dad did do was keep a promise. If he said he was going to do it, it would certainly be done. My dad wasn’t too fond of excuses. Too often we make promises, little and big, that we do not honor. A promise to your Dad. A promise to yourself. It becomes easy to say “I’ll get to it” or “tomorrow.” I want to remember my Dad and the promises he kept. I want you to remember the promises that have you made. “I wish there was something I could do…” There is something you can do for me. It is something you should do you for yourself. Take a little promise in your life and keep it. Take a picture of it after you’ve kept your promise and tag it with this page. Fix that ceiling fan. Send the letter. Get the oil changed. Quit smoking. Dad, I love you very much. We miss you. I promise to find a way to remember you, because I said I would. " Because I said I would is a social movement and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the betterment of humanity through promises made and kept. We are changing lives through volunteerism in local chapters, character education programming in schools and awareness campaigns with global reach. We work to end suffering, establish peace and build happiness. To this, we are committed.

Founded as The Drum Corps Heritage Project (DCHP), the newly incorporated Drum Corps Heritage Society is the most comprehensive thematic repository of materials related to the history of the North American drum and bugle corps. The mission of the DCHS is to collect, preserve and provide access to these resources for scholars, educators, students, journalists, and the general public in an effort to broaden the awareness and understanding of the drum and bugle corps, its historical roots and evolution, and its impact in the larger history and cultural fabric of North American music.
