Despite the rain, shout out to the four dedicated ladies that came to legs, bums & tums this morning and my clients for turning up and pushing themselves. I know it's summer I know it's raining But get down to the gym, you'll be better for it. Good afternoon everyone. So I have gotten married, come back from my holiday and am now open for business. Summer is (despite the rain) upon us, I have a few sessions still available during the week to help you all before holidays kick in. Also we have a in gym thruster challenge going on at the moment. Winner gets £500 in vouchers so get your thrusters on ;)
Knee pain has caused me to drop off the map for the last 3 days, but I'm going to test the waters today with some cardio and body weight circuits. 1 month until I am away on Holiday so it's time to burn some excess fat ;) I will be in the gym pretty much all week so if you need anything please drop me a message or come speak to me in person. So after much missed squatting earlier this year and starting from scratch my workout today is going like this Squats: 122.5kg 5 reps 5 reps 4 reps 5 reps 5 reps 10 sets of 10 reps at 80kg moving down to 60 as mad fatigue sets in.....that's it so far and although I'm not yet very strong its going up at a nice healthy pace. Earn your drinks this Saturday night Do a lot of squats :)
Tomorrow, apparently, we are having some heavier dumbbells bought it so I expect to see all of you benches 50's in either hand ;) Hope you all make it to the gym over the weekend. Ha! Monday and I actually did chest.... Who woulda guessed ,😊 gym was , unsurprisingly, super quiet today but massive hand to my client Phil who worked incredibly hard this evening and has made some terrific progress in just two weeks. Skwaats!!! And two sessions with two excellent clients this afternoon. Massive thumbs up for Mandy and Aimee for dedicating an hour of their afternoon to fitness tests and workouts, both did really well! My workout was thus. Squats: 4 sets of 5 reps 1 final set of 4 reps at a higher weight (this was foolish) Triple set: light squats 3 sets of 6 (pause at the bottom) Sumo dead lifts 3 sets of 6 Lunges 3 sets of 10 Super set: Leg press 3 sets of 10 Calf raises 3 sets of 20
Summer is coming!!! Don't give up on working those legs guys, cos I know none of you want to wear trousers when it's hot in July ;) Have an amazing bank holiday weekend everyone!
Sunday is designated Leg day 2.0 I will be attempting this delicious workout Warm up squats: 4 x 3 reps (weight increasing from 40-100kg each set) Working Squats: 5x5 Supersets Light squats: 5 x 10 Sumo Dead lifts: 5 x 10 Walking Lunges: 5 x 10 Leg extensions It's gonna be great fun :D
Very quiet in the gym today although great to see three different groups of people working on their Deadlifts all at the same time. If we keep this up we may need to convert an additional room into a strength/power area ;) For all of you hitting the gym tonight, if you're also going out later don't just work your biceps, hit those big lifts to burn as many calories and fire your body up as much as possible. I recommend Squats... and Deadlifts ;) back to back (only joking) have an excellent evening all
It's Saturday!!!! Which means a lot of you will be off work, which means you have no excuse not to get in the gym crush some Deadlifts, push some weight, train hard and reward yourself with an amazing Sunday in the sun. I will be in the gym most of the day now so please come and chat I am around to help out this afternoon so pick my brains. Don't let a great week of training be ruined by one bad night out. I know from considerable experience that those lbs you can drop in a week will pile on with one bad night at a buffet. Summer is coming, don't give up.

This evening in the gym almost turned into a powerlifting meet. My workout started with a reasonable couple warm up sets on Dead lift followed by this programme 7 x 3 reps at 145kg With as much rest as I need Then 5 x 5 reps at 100kg fast pull from the floor 4 x 8 single arm rows 3 x 8 bicep curls for fun. However huge shoutout to a 220kg dead lift performed at around 17:30 it's a shame I didn't film it but it was great to see someone lift such a huge number. The above workout is a little mix of powerlifting/body building (hence the accessory lifts) If you fancy a strong session give it a go, but make sure you rest between sets so your lower back isn't rounding forward. Last weekend I went to the Brecon Beacons to, essentially, test myself against the mountains. It was both beautiful and exhilarating. Simply doing 3 good days of walking and only eating what I needed to I began to feel fitter, happier and healthier and the experience has given me a new monthly goal to go back to back with my long term aims. Having something to train for is such good motivation to keep going and to keep trying to better your previous performance and in one month I will go back to Pen y Fan and test myself against it again. It isn't the hardest climb in the world but it's nearby and I seriously recommend anyone in Newport/Cardiff areas to get out and give it a go. Pictures incoming
