Gazetted in 1857, the Bendigo Botanic Gardens was the first public park opened in Bendigo. A masterplan guides the development of the gardens. The BBG aims to be a place that connects people together and encourages them to connect with plants. It is a centre for recreation, education and conservation. The Bendigo Botanic Gardens will be an inspiring and sustainable iconic landscape that provides diverse opportunities for learning about plants, horticulture, landscapes, botany, ecology, conservation and heritage: it will be a place for the enjoyment of the whole community.
The Garden opens at 7.30am and closes at 9pm. (We close at 6pm outside of Daylight savings hours). Enter at 557-559 Napier St Bendigo through the Arch of Triumph or from Scott St or Hamelin St. The works depot is located at 71 Napoleon Crescent. Bus route 8 to Huntly and bus route 10 to Epsom can get you here from Bendigo Train Station.
