Toastmasters is a program that helps people improve their public speaking and leadership skills in a very structured way. It’s perfect if you want to enhance your communication skills in both professional and personal environments, and it’s also a great way to get to know the other participants much better than you would usually do during other activities. INSPIRE is planning to organize a few Toastmasters meetings before the end of summer. You don’t need to bring anything, just your willingness to participate in the conversation and to learn how to speak in public! Do you have a startup idea? Are you looking for a proven method to validate your idea? The Bay Area NSF Innovation Corps (I-Corps) is offering a one-week course based on Steve Blank's Lean LaunchPad. Teams that complete this course can qualify for the National I-Corps program that includes a $50,000 grant. The one-week course, with only three classroom sessions, will focus on the Business Model Canvas, Value Propositions, and Customer Development, which are essential to de-risking your idea and achieving product-market fit. How to Introduce and Market Yourself Join INSPIRE to learn how to introduce yourself in a variety of life situations and to efficiently market yourself in job-related situations. The first part of the workshop will focus on how to answer the ever asked and yet tricky questions: Why are you here? What do you do? We will role play different scenarios you might find yourself in and practice through hands-on exercises. INSPIRE workshop: How to create your own natural detergents You will learn how to safely and easily create detergents that are 100% natural, beneficial for you and not harmful to the environment. The first part of the workshop will be dedicated to learning how to mix ingredients for your personal care (soaps, shampoos, scrubs, deodorants and mask) and the second part will be focused on how to clean your house and your clothes with all-natural detergents. You will be able to experiment with the ingredients and bring home, at least, one of your creations! NOTE: In order to cover the cost of the supplies, we are asking for a $5 participation fee, which you can give us in cash at the event.
