Happy World Theatre Day everyone!!!!
SO PROUD to be posting this rockin letter of recommendation from Kathy Stodalka who teaches at St. Philip Fine Arts School in Calgary! We had such a great time with the Grade 3 classes!! Hope we can come play at your school soon!!! Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2015 Letter of Recommendation It was with great pleasure that we welcomed Bigs & Littles Theatre Group to our school. The children were engaged from the onset of the workshop! All activities were age-appropriate and involved each and every child! What impressed me the most was how they made all the children feel comfortable and got every child engaged and learning. Bigs and Littles was fun, and they got a lot done! Hilary and Meredith covered several drama concepts in their workshop: theatre etiquette, specific theatre vocabulary, articulation games, and the 5W approach to scene work. The drama games were excellent! Specific activities developed body awareness, use of space, how to use intonation of the voice for effect, and demonstrated the importance of recognizing relationships between characters. The children were also given the opportunity to work in small groups on a skit. The atmosphere created by Bigs & Littles Theatre Group was positive, fun, creative and purposeful. It was an excellent, interactive workshop that fostered the development of imagination and self-expression in my students. Hilary and Meredith were talented, energetic and engaging! I was fortunate to attend one of their original plays titled ‘Gravy and Moe’. This is a play that explores the sensitive issue of grief and loss through the eyes of a child. I would highly recommend this play for any child who has experienced a loss. It was beautifully done. Drama experiences help develop self-confidence in children. Bigs & Littles theatre group allowed the opportunity for each child to get up in front of an audience in a supported, positive environment. I would highly recommend Bigs & Littles Theatre. I would re-book them in a heartbeat! Thank you so much for such an educational, creative morning! Sincerely, Kathy Stodalka Teacher, St. Philip Fine Arts School
