BIMM, The British and Irish Modern Music Institute, has colleges in seven cities where music matters most – London, Berlin, Dublin, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham and Brighton – and is proud to be the largest and leading provider of contemporary music education in the UK, Ireland and Europe. Our seven BIMM colleges have over 50 years’ experience between them in helping students launch successful careers in the music industry. We offer a broad range of Higher and Further Education music courses – including BA Honours Degrees, nationally accredited Diplomas, Post Graduate Teaching Certificates and options for full-time and part-time study. Our professional highly vocational and real-world courses include studies in guitar, bass, drums, vocals, songwriting, music production, music business and event management. The first BIMM college opened in 2001 in Brighton. This vibrant and creative city was chosen as a base because of its access to gigs, studios, record labels and artists. BIMM Bristol opened in 2008, and in 2010, Tech Music School London (TMS), joined the BIMM Group, which had been teaching music in the heart of the world’s music capital since 1983, and now operates as BIMM London. In 2011 BIMM Dublin was established, followed by our newest centre, BIMM Manchester, in 2013. Our first college in continental Europe, BIMM Berlin, opened in 2015. BIMM Birmingham opens in 2017. The seven BIMM colleges collaborate in perfect harmony, while ensuring that each individual institute has a unique and independent regional identity which is nurtured by its local team and students. Over 4,500 students now have access to a range of amazing opportunities as part of our aligned network of colleges. We take students with talent and the will to work hard, and support them to become better connected than any other graduates. BIMM students collaborate with some of the finest aspiring musicians and music industry professionals in the country, and are guided by a talented group of world-class tutors; every one of them still active in the contemporary music business; and every one of them working to a syllabus honed and informed by the modern industry. We offer direct access to regular collaborative experiences, including Masterclasses hosted by internationally renowned guest artists, end-of-term gigs, A&R panels, the annual BIMM album, and ongoing engagement with the industry, including work placements and internships. BIMM students also benefit from being connected to the largest alumni network in the industry, with graduate success stories including The Kooks; singer-songwriters Tom Odell, James Bay and George Ezra; and Ben Thompson from Two Door Cinema Club. Between them, BIMM alumni boast Brit and Ivor Novello awards, and have scored countless UK Top 10 albums and more than 30 UK Top 40 singles. The secret to success is no secret.
