Description
The Civitan Club was founded in Birmingham, Alabama in 1917. Its founder and first president was Dr. Courteny W. Shropshire, a prominent Birmingham physician. As a result the Birmingham Civitan Club is now known as the 'Mother Club of Civitan International'. Civitan International is a worldwide community service organization of men, women and students in 32 countries on four continents joining together to perform community service projects.
