Both Birth ROCKS and Baby ROCKS are offered across London and Surrey as small group or private 1:1 sessions, taught by qualified midwives Jenny and Sarah-Louise. Birth ROCKS invite mothers and their birth partners to get to know themselves, uncover and release their fears and find out what will comfort them during the birth, allowing them to fully embrace the experience and look forward to it with excitement. With Baby ROCKS, we arm parents with the knowledge and skills needed to continue the journey and care for themselves and their newborn, empowering them to make informed choices for their new family, and making the transition to parenthood as stress free as possible! The founder of Birth ROCKS, Cheryl MacDonald says it: “...looks at birth from a positive perspective. Not like these programmes like One Born Every Minute where everything is dramatized to the max. Birth is a normal physiological process and an occasion for celebration; something parents should look forward to and not be made to feel scared of. Modern media images of birth give the wrong impression. It doesn’t have to be traumatic, it doesn’t have to be painful, Birth ROCKS! We also realize that one size does not fit all and that each mother and every birth are different. We help parents find the techniques that are going to help them – we don’t just say okay everyone breathe like this – everyone is different and can enjoy birth in their own way.” The Birth ROCKS programme works with mum and birth partner and looks at three different aspects of birthing: Physical, Spiritual and Active Birth. Baby ROCKS then covers everything you need to know once your new baby arrives – from what happens immediately after birth to what baby and mum need to thrive, as well as all important skills such as nappy changing and bathing a newborn!
