Dr. Maylei Blackwell received her Ph.D. in the History Consciousness Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2000. She graduated in 2006 as an Energy Healer Practitioner and began teaching transpersonal energy healing in 2010 at Lionheart Institute Los Angeles. She went on to complete her training as a body/mind counselor in 2013. For the past ten years, Maylei has been on the faculty as a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles in the departments of Chicana and Chicano Studies and Gender Studies. Her research and teaching focus on race, gender and sexuality as well as history of social movements in Latin America and the U.S. Her book ¡Chicana Power! Contested Histories of Feminism in the Chicano Movement (UT Press 2011) has received numerous honors. Her energy healing and coaching practice in Long Beach, California specializes in helping people unblock their creativity and unleash their talent in order to make their dreams come true.
