We had the pleasure of working on this hollow body Hohner for Mr. Lew Fournier. It seemed yet another beautiful guitar's tone was being held back by lengths of unneeded wire straight from the factory. Let us know if we can help you milk some more tone out of your beast!

PRESS RELEASE FOR SCHOOL OF MEDIA AND DESIGN GUITAR COURSE August 27, 2015 Conestoga College is pleased to announce that Bob Egan will be joining its faculty in September to teach courses in guitar maintenance. Bob has a long history with guitar, both as a performer and as a repair technician. He founded Chicago’s premier repair facility in 1990 and has repaired well over 10,000 guitars since then. He currently runs Bob’s Guitar Service, a regional repair institution in Kitchener, ON and still enjoys his work. “Every guitar has a sweet spot and even after all these year of repairing them, I still get a kick out of finding that spot.” As a performer, Bob is best known as the multi-instrumentalist for Blue Rodeo for the past 16 years logging in over 1,000 gigs with them. “Playing guitar on stage every night and being surrounded by guitarists is certainly an asset when it comes to understanding the performer’s relationship to his or her guitar. It’s a very valuable perspective to have in my repair toolkit.” Bob brings his passion for guitar repair to his innovative course: Understanding Guitar – Form, Function and Maintenance. In addition to learning about guitar history, materials and design, students will spend the majority of class time working on guitars – both their personal instruments and those provided by the class. “It’s a very hands on approach to teaching that leads the student down the path to the perfect guitar set up, to finding that sweet spot!” To register, click here: https://portal.conestogac.on.ca/StudentPortal/Default.aspx?mgid=0&smid=5&ssmid=0&Key=GINT0550&CRSId=33633 Questions? MAA FALL COURSES PRESS RELEASE It is going to be a very busy Fall at the Kitchener Studio Project – Conestoga College’s Modern Audio Arts is offering 5 courses and over 20 workshops covering all areas of audio production! If you are interested in the Technology, Creativity or Business of Audio, check out these opportunities to learn and pursue your passion. 15-WEEK COURSES To learn more or to register for the 5 courses list below, click here: http://www.conestogac.on.ca/continuing-education/courses/groupcourselist.jsp?CatalogCode=C20_H3243 Introduction to 21st Century Recording and Technology The digital revolution has fundamentally transformed the technology of recording audio and this course addresses that brave new world. It explores the intersection of old school fundamental techniques and principles, and the digital audio workstation where the only limits are your imagination. This course prepares students to record their own sonic masterpieces. Electroacoustic Audio Creation Today vast amounts of music are created “in-the-box” from full symphonies to sound effects for computer games. Students will be introduced to electronic, electroacoustic and computer-generated music (all within the computer) and taught the skills to apply these to both traditional and new media uses. Essentials of Audio Mixing Mixing is a blend of science and art, and it has come to the forefront as an “in demand discipline” thanks to the popularity of gaming and animation. This course presents the time-tested principles of audio mixing and brings them into the modern world of technological possibilities, preparing students to conceptualize and work in this emerging digital medium. Foundations of Record Making This foundation course explains how to make a modern record from beginning to end and illustrates current and creative “DIY” audio production techniques based on traditional recording theory and practices. This course provides the students with hands-on-training in the art of record making and music production. Portable recorders, Apple computers, iPads and digital audio workstations will be used. The students will focus on the key elements in how sound is recorded, mixed and produced within the digital “In The Box” approach. The history of record making and music production will be examined as well. 360 Degrees of the Modern Music Industry Twenty years ago it required a dozen specialists to record and release music into the world. Today, it takes 1 person and a computer. This course explores the best practices of today’s groundbreaking artists and prepares students to develop a business plan that maximizes the reach and potential of social media. 3-HOUR AUDIO WORKSHOPS We are also offering dozens of workshops in the following areas: Advanced Mixing Techniques: http://www.conestogac.on.ca/continuing-education/courses/groupcourselist.jsp?CatalogCode=C20_H3240 Logic Pro X: http://www.conestogac.on.ca/continuing-education/courses/groupcourselist.jsp?CatalogCode=C20_H3244 Daniel Lanois Production: http://www.conestogac.on.ca/continuing-education/courses/groupcourselist.jsp?CatalogCode=C20_H3242 Beat Production: http://www.conestogac.on.ca/continuing-education/courses/groupcourselist.jsp?CatalogCode=C20_H3241
